BitFriends is a wellness-focused digital application committed to safeguarding your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and store data with an emphasis on transparency, minimalism, and user control. By using BitFriends, you acknowledge and consent to the practices described herein.
Account Information: We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate the app, including device identifiers, age bracket, and app preferences. We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name or email address.
Conversation Data: When you interact with your BitFriends, we process conversation content to provide personalized AI responses and improve your experience. This data is linked to a randomly generated user identifier to maintain conversation continuity across app sessions.
Usage Information: We automatically collect information about how you use the app, including features accessed, session duration, and chat interaction metrics (such as message length and AI processing statistics) to understand app usage patterns. You can disable this analytics collection through the data management screen.
Technical Diagnostics: We collect application debug information, error logs, and crash reports that are essential for maintaining app stability and fixing technical issues. This diagnostic data cannot be disabled as it is necessary for app operation and security.
Device Information: We collect technical information about your device including operating system and version, device model and manufacturer, app version, screen dimensions, network connectivity status, locale/timezone settings, and crash reports to ensure the app functions properly and for technical diagnostics.
Core Functionality: To provide personalized AI companions, enable conversation memory, and deliver wellness features including mini-apps and breathing exercises.
Wellness Support: When BitFriend checkups are enabled in your privacy settings, we may analyze conversation content to determine when supportive check-ins from your BitFriends might be helpful. We may create and store brief conversation summaries to provide contextual wellness support. You can disable this feature and delete any related data at any time through the app's data management settings.
Improvement and Security: To enhance app performance, fix bugs, prevent fraud, and develop new features. We use aggregated, anonymous analytics data that is essential for app operation and cannot identify individual users.
You may choose to share sensitive personal information during conversations with your BitFriends. We use this information only to:
• Provide personalized AI responses
• Determine when supportive check-ins might be helpful (if enabled)
• Improve conversation quality
We never use conversation content for marketing, advertising, or any purpose beyond facilitating your BitFriend interactions. If you prefer not to share sensitive information, you can still use all core features of the app.
We use third-party service providers to help operate our app, including:
• AI processing providers for conversation functionality
• Push notification services for wellness check-ins
• Cloud database and hosting providers for secure data storage
• Analytics services to understand app performance
These providers access your information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually required to protect your data.
BitFriends does not share, sell, lease, or otherwise transfer any user data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not utilize ad networks, trackers, or data brokers of any kind.

Complete Data Control: You have full control over your data and can delete conversations, individual BitFriends, or all app data at any time through our comprehensive data management screen accessible in app settings.
BitFriend Checkups: You can enable or disable BitFriend checkups in privacy settings. When enabled, minimal data needed for supportive check-ins is stored. When disabled, any related cloud data is automatically removed while preserving your local app experience.
Cloud Storage Opt-Out: You retain full control over cloud data storage. Within the application, you may disable all external data storage, and related cloud data will be deleted while core app features remain accessible locally.
Data Deletion: You can delete specific conversations, individual BitFriends, wallboard items, or perform a complete app reset at any time through the app settings. You can also disable future analytics collection through the data management screen. Note that previously collected anonymous analytics data cannot be deleted from our systems as it is not linked to identifiable user accounts, but no new analytics will be collected once disabled. For additional data deletion requests regarding identifiable information, contact our support team.
Access and Correction: You may request access to your personal information or request corrections by contacting us as described below.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption during transmission and secure server storage. All conversations are encrypted, and access to data is protected by multi-layered security controls.
While we use reasonable commercial efforts to protect your data, no technology can be guaranteed 100% secure. In the event of a security incident affecting user data, we will provide notice through the app or our website as required by law.
We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. You control the retention of your conversation data and can delete it at any time through the data management screen. Anonymous usage data may be retained longer for service improvement purposes.
BitFriends is intended for users 16 and older. During onboarding, we ask users to self-report their age bracket. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we discover that a minor has provided personal information, we will delete any associated cloud data and restrict access to the application.
Our services are operated from the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from your jurisdiction. By using our services, you consent to this transfer.
BitFriends uses artificial intelligence to generate responses and provide wellness support. AI-generated content may be unpredictable, inaccurate, or inappropriate. BitFriends is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. If you are experiencing a crisis, please contact emergency services or a licensed healthcare provider immediately.
